Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2014 Experience

Viva Senor Santo Nino! This was the first thing I heard as I stepped out of the airport.  A group of performers were dancing  “Ati-Atihan”.  I became more excited and eager to watch the performances of the tribes.

On the day of the performances, I left the hotel at 6:30am to walk towards my assigned stage.  All the while I thought my media pass would allow me to be at the Provincial Capitol but upon checking the color of my ID, it was yellow green.  Anyway, I was assigned at Iznart St. (Stage 4).  I seated at the 2nd row.  The view was perfect.  The competition started at around 9am and the streets were jampacked by local and international tourists.  As soon as the first performance started, I was awed and in a way starstruck with their colorful costumes and performances.  I learned that there were 10 tribes competing and I was practically glued to my seat until 1pm.  I enjoyed all the performances and I can definitely say I will go back to see more world class performances in Iloilo.  Congratulations to Tribe Panayon for winning this year’s Dinagyang  Festival.
